Ask any of her thousands of fans just what it is about Kora mae (real name Laura) that is so exquisite, fine and so alluring and the answer is always “the power of her voice”. Power packed, versatile, intrepid, laden with texture and instantly identifiable, Kora Mae has always been in possession of one of the best voices in Wales – indeed, in the UK and beyond! Its time for her to shine.
Kora Mae has been performing as a solo artist since the age of twelve appearing at many different venues. Kora Mae has a natural talent and has had no training. At the age of thirteen she was spurred on to take part in a search for a star competition at Swansea's Mumbles Pier after getting through three heats she successfully went on to win the final, the first prize of being £1000!! which was judged by TV celebrity Owen Money and one of Wales top agents Alan Phillips. Kora Mae then went on to record a cover version album called' Revival', As a result she received a phone call from BBC Wales asking if she would like to sing LIVE on CHILPREN IN NEED along side CHARLOTTE CHURCH and BONNIE TYLOR. Following being televised Kora Mae spent most of her weekends singing in pubs and some clubs.
1n September 2002 Kora Mae was offered an audition at BBC Studios for a one off version of ÒJunior just up your streetÓ which she successfully passed The programme was filmed in the November then televised on BBC2W on the 29th December 2003 hosted by Owen Money and Jessica Gallick. The ultimate for Kora Mae was to be asked to perform at St DAVIDS HALL CARDIFF for a childrenÕs charity called LATCH which was hosted by many welsh celebrities singing with a live band in November 2003.
Came 2nd at local 'Stars in your eyes' competition against 30 adults at Minnies nightclub Haverfordwest. Won 'Search for a star' competition at Mumbles Pier Swansea judged by Owen Money and Alan Phillips winning £1000!! in 2001. Sang live on BBC 'Children in need' alongside Charllotte Church and Bonnie Tylor November 2001. Recorded her own song 'Love to dance' which was played on the radio Wales with Frank Hennessy and was interviewed 2002. Made top of the bill for the last two years at a charity bash raising money for autistic children. Performed infront of a thousand people at 'The Festival of Sea' in Goodwick June 2001.
Appeared on junior version of 'Just up your street' hosted by Owen Money and Jessica Gallick December 29th 2003 on BBC2W. Sang on Pembrokeshire radio live on numerous occasions 2002 and 2003. Performed at Folly Farm for a charity the 'Lynneship memorial' , QueenÕs Golden Jubilee sang at a street party hosting 300 people at Mumble, crowned Miss Letterston 2002.
